DISPATCHER

You will be working in a fast paced environment using your operational, managerial, interpersonal, and selling skills. You will be responsible for keeping track of all passenger and maintenance traffic on the railroad, and communicating professionally with the train crews and other essential personnel by radio. You will also act as a liaison to the Ticket Office Manager, providing assistance as needed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·       Work under the Ticket Office Manager in a supervisory capacity to all ticket office employees whenever the Ticket Office Manager is not available or on assigned days off

·       Monitor and respond AT ALL TIMES to radio call-ins and keep track of them on a spreadsheet

·       Assist Trainmaster to make decisions regarding daily procedures, train operations and schedule, etc.

·       Communicate essential functions of train operations via radio to necessary personnel (i.e. boarding calls, breakdown procedures, summit calls, passenger counts)

·       Open and close department daily as shift leader

·       Troubleshoot issues with customers

·       Manage information technology/computer systems and ensure technology is accessible/equipped with current hardware/software

·       Train all department and accessory employees on technology use, procedures, and protocols

·       Assist ticket office manager in maintaining an accurate filing system for department records

·       Inform and educate guests as to Railway ticketing options and answer any inquiries produced by guests

·       Create an overall positive experience for our guests, whether in person or over the phone through use of positive language and professional courtesy

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to accomplish the goal of providing an excellent customer service experience for our guests while also working against a time deadline.

·       Work in a high paced, busy environment that changes hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly depending on the mix of business for that time period.

Job Requirements:

·       Must be able to properly operate a computer, radio, scanners, and printers

·       Must be able to perform all duties required of ticket agents, phone reservationists, scanners, and summit post office positions

·       Must communicate in a clear and concise manner when using the radio

·       Must provide excellent service to internal and external customers

·       Must be able to maintain and keep right a cash bank and safe

·       Must have the ability to adapt to unexpected situations

·       Must be able to delegate work assignments and oversee the completion of said assignments

·       Must be punctual and reliable

·       Must have careful attention to detail

·       Must be able to remain calm and portray a friendly demeanor in stressful situations

·       Must be able to properly plan, organize, and prioritize tasks

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

The Mount Washington Cog Railway provides all necessary training for this position. This is a seasonal job with a layoff at the end of our season.
