Stewardship, not ownership
From about 1870 until 1983, ownership and management of the Cog Railway changed frequently. This article presents a detailed timeline of the history of the railway’s stewardship, from its founder Sylvester Marsh all the way up to the present day, with our current owner and President Wayne Presby.
Wayne has made it his life’s work to restore what had been a historically significant but struggling mountain-climbing railway to its rightful status as the premier attraction in the State of New Hampshire. In doing so, he ensured that the Cog Railway would not only survive, but thrive for future generations. Wayne was recently profiled in the UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law magazine.
