Marshfield Base Station will be buzzing with holiday family activities, and there will be treats for the whole family. Ride & Observatory Tour
Take the train to the summit and go behind the scenes where weather observers record some of the Earth's most fascinating weather.
Round trip train ride and Observatory tour is $81 for adults, $54 for children ages 4-12. June 17, July 15, August 26, September 9. Please call 603.278.5404 to book in advance.
Mount Washington Cog Railway Natural History Tour
Monday, August 25, 1:30 pm train
Bright sun, high winds, blowing ice and snow, thin soils, and rough terrain are some of the challenges facing not only humans on the mountain but plants and animals as well. Join AMC Senior Interpretive Naturalist Nancy Ritger on the Cog Railway, as we ascend the mountain, ecological zones are pointed out featuring species that have adapted to the conditions at different elevations. Upon reaching the summit we will spend time exploring the tundra environment at the top of the mountain. 1:30 pm train. Round trip tour is approximately 3 hours. $81 Adults, $54 Children (ages 4-12). September 12: Railfans dream come true! A day of coal-fired steam trains and photo opportunities, visits with the steam crew as they service the trains, plus guided museum tours. Booking for the train rides will be available online or by phone.
